For immigrants looking to obtain permanent residency in Canada, Express Entry is an efficient and fast-acting system which places skilled and qualified candidates within Canadian job positions. This system may apply to these four economic class programs:
Step 1: Create and post an online profile
Candidates who are looking to obtain permanent residence within one of the 347 occupations *link* and who measure up to the minimum qualifications for entry (age, language proficiencies, language, education, work experience) are able to submit a profile within the Express Entry Pool.
The candidate’s general information assessed through the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) and will be awarded points depending on the measurement of their assets and therefore contribution once arriving in Canada.
If an applicant does not yet have an employment offer or nomination through a provincial government, they have to submit a profile through the Canadian Job Bank.
Step 2: Permanent Residency Invitation for Application
A wide-variety of Canadian employers looking for a skillset outside of Canada due to lack of options may provide job offers to applicants in the Express Entry Pool. Below is a list of the various employers and their corresponding awarded points:
Candidates with the highest amount of points may be invited to fill out an application for permanent residency in Canada. These individuals must send in their application before 90 days from the initial invitation. These invitations are created and send out periodically within the year through draws. Awarded applicants and their dependant relatives have a 6 month processing wait time.
*If you do not receive an invitation*
A candidate’s profile is rotated for 12 months within the Express Entry Pool. After this time, candidates holding the minimum criteria are allowed to re-submit a profile.
